RIVERSPORT Adaptive Row/Paddle is an exciting and fully inclusive program specifically designed for people with physical, sensory and cognitive disabilities. We focus on individual needs and use modified equipment to give you the opportunity to get on the water in a rowing shell or kayak.
Sessions are held at the Devon Boathouse on Saturdays,9a to noon.
Get involved any time during the season, but the earlier you begin, the more time you’ll have on the water! Our Saturday sessions are free to qualified participants and you have the option of joining OKC RIVERSPORT to get more time on the water. No experience is necessary, but we do ask that you make a reservation so we can best be prepared to meet your needs.
Get on the water in a kayak specially adapted for increased stability. Our coaches will help you get into the kayak safely and show you everything you need to know for fun, safe paddling. A safety launch on the water will monitor your progress until you’re ready to head back to the dock. As your paddling skills become stronger, you’ll have the option of moving into boats that offer a faster, more agile experience.
Ready to row? Adaptive equipment makes it possible for people with a variety of disabilities to take to the water in a sleek rowing shell. Our rowing coaches will teach you the basic rowing stroke, then provide you with on-the-water assistance as you build your skills.
