Join the Sprint Kayak Team

Coach Shaun Caven believes OKC kids have Olympic potential – and he knows what he’s talking about. Coach Caven coached Tim Brabents to a gold medal in the Beijing Olympics before moving to Oklahoma City to start a new program.

Coach Caven is looking for youth ages 8+ to try sprint kayaking. The fun is in learning to kayak – the excitement is in racing! Join the team this spring, and you’ll be ready to race in the 2010 USA Canoe/Kayak Sprint Nationals being held on the Oklahoma River in August. Just ask the kids who’ve already been racing; Coach Caven will have you competitive in no time at all!

Practices are held at the Route 66 Boathouse on the east shore of Lake Overholser, 3115 E. Overholser Drive. No previous experience required; ages 8+. Here’s how you get started…
