RIVERSPORT Paddlemania

Eight million gallons of raging rapids. Six chaotic competitions. One ultimate whitewater event.

The Second Annual PADDLEMANIA brought all the mayhem to the RIVERSPORT whitewater channels. The competitions were held Sunday, October 6, 2024, and included BYOB (Build Your Own Boat), Battle of the Paddles, whitewater raft racing and whitewater kayaking skills.

The Mayhem Returns Next Summer…

The competition was crazy this year and we’re expecting to go next level when we move Paddlemania to the summer in 2025. Watch for the dates – we’re going to crown the most-skilled, the most-agile and most-innovative paddlers in the region as Paddlemaniacs… we hope you’ll join us!

2024 Paddlemania Schedule

Battle of the Paddles – 11:30a

It’s a flatwater raft tug o’ war on the lower pond – no pumps running. Grab your team of four, hop in a raft and see if you can pull the competing raft across the line! Single elimination tournament.

C.A.T. Rafting (Community Athletic Teams)– 12:00p (Noon)

RIVERSPORT corporate partners, rowing and dragon boat teams take to the water for a new kind of challenge – whitewater rafting! No practices. No coaching. Just six team members in a timed race down the Competition Channel for medals and bragging rights.

BYOB Build Your Own Boat Racing – 2:00p

Build your own boat, then race it down the channels. Entries are judged on creativity, speed and distance traveled (not all may cross the finish line!). Ready to build a boat but not wanting to ride it down the rapids? Try our new “unmanned raft” category. You build it. You launch it. Then cheer it on from the sidelines. View Rules

Whitewater Kayak Racing and Kayak Cross – 1:00p & 3:00p

Kayak racing in a timed event. No gates; just top to bottom of the channel.

Extreme whitewater kayakers, you know who you are! Everyone else, come watch as paddlers slide off a ramp 10’ above the water and race in a head-to-head slalom challenge.

FreeStyle Exhibition / Hold My Beer Roll Challenge – 4:00p

Freestyle kayakers… show your stuff and compete to see who does the most rolls in 30 seconds, who can roll with a PFD, roll with a beer (extra points for not spilling a drop) and roll without a paddle. Challenge accepted?
