High School Rowing

RIVERSPORT offers rowing teams for both novice and experienced rowers with a seat in our program for any youth who wants to row. While our teams are competitive, we welcome kids from all backgrounds – some are lifelong athletes and others are just getting started. Those new to the sport will learn to row as part of being on the team in the first year.

If you’re interested, you’re welcome to observe a practice before joining the team. Your first week of practice is free so you can try it out before committing for the season.

NOVICE TEAM

The men’s and women’s novice teams are for new rowers who are in their first year of competitive rowing. Novice teams travel and compete in regional and national races (regattas).
Practice Days: Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri 4-6p, Saturdays 9-11:30a

VARSITY TEAM

The men’s and women’s varsity teams are for athletes who have completed their first year of novice rowing. Varsity athletes compete on the regional and national level, and will have the opportunity to compete at the USRowing Youth National Championships in June. Varsity rowing is split into age categories by USRowing so we field Under-19 boats and Under-17 boats from our varsity teams. Rowing at the national level is a great opportunity to be recruited to row at the collegiate level.
Practice Days: Monday-Friday 4-6p, Saturdays 9-11:30a
