Chesapeake Finish Line Tower

Welcome to the iconic Chesapeake Energy Finish Line Tower. The world-class structure is a gift to Oklahoma City from Chesapeake Energy in recognition of the significant role the community played in the company’s success over two decades.

Designed by Oklahoma architect Rand Elliott, the Chesapeake Finish Line Tower represents another major step toward achieving the vision of creating a world-class rowing and canoe/kayak venue in Oklahoma City.  The tower stands 60 feet in height and is clearly visible from Interstate 35.  The 7,500 square foot building includes four levels:

  • Level 1:  Welcome center
  • Level 2:  Finish line jury/timing seats
  • Level 3:  Commentary/media/race control
  • Level 4:  VIP Viewing Gallery and observation deck

The finish line tower’s 12-foot glass walls provide panoramic views of the race course and the city during races as well as special events. The tower includes the newest in race technology and meets the standards for both FISA, the international governing body for rowing, and the International Canoe Federation (ICF), the governing body for canoe/kayak worldwide.  The finish line wire is incorporated into the tower itself and is graphically represented on adjacent sidewalks and within the building as a continuous red line.

Outside, terraced seating provides an expansive view of the finish line for spectators. An adjacent fire pit and movie screen make the area a natural gathering place for community events.
